Announcement: The Triumphant Return of DATE ME, DAMMIT!

Hey y'all! It's been a minute! We wanted to tell you about what to expect from Date Me Dammit in 2024.

First, an explanation. Last year we were playing through ANIMAL LOVER, as you may recall. We had most of the game recorded, but Mackenzie got a new computer and also needed to switch editing software. Once the latter was taken care of, we discovered that pretty much all of the audio from those sessions is gone. And while it's been a while since we recorded it, it's hard to redo something like that and make the spontaneity of the humor for DMD still work. So, unfortunately, it's joining Dragon Age: Origins in the DMD scrap heap.

Animal Lover is an absolutely adorable game, though, and if you want to find out what happens, check it out for yourself! Listen. Romance Frankie. Frankie is clearly the best boy. We won't* judge if you don't romance Frankie, but you should definitely play Animal Lover.

In the meantime, we're starting out our 2024 run by debuting a new game and a new format. To spice some things up, we'll be swapping out between the regular Date Me Dammit cast playing a game and then a game played with our side feature team: Date Me, Dammit! Love Never Allies. This is where Maq (often along with Annie) invites a friend to play a date sim together. Our first game back will be a Love Never Allies game, with Maq and Annie featuring guest player Anna Emmaline, who runs Jemjammer!

And the game we'll be playing is one by a writer near(?) and dear(??) to our hearts, Michaela Laws, creator of such fine games as Seduce Me: The Otome and Seduce Me 2: The Demon War. This time around we'll be playing Love and Romance - A Study of Intimacy, a VN wherein a romance novel writer learns how to write smut. Sort of. Listen, it's..... well, bless her heart.

New episodes of Date Me Dammit begin on the weekend of April 5th! We're so excited to bring you more games about kissing. Join us, won't we?

JEMJAMMER Q&A

Hey Internet! We decided it was about time to do another Jemjammer Q&A with everybody’s favorite/only DM, Kit! We’ll be taking questions on twitter (please @CRCpodcasts and use the hashtag #jemjammerQA), on Patreon (send us a direct message), or as a comment on this post here on the dot horse (also now the dot gay). You can also ask us in the Jemjammer chat on our Discord.

Kit will be taking questions on a variety of topics, such as anything related to the Jemjammer campaign, behind-the-scenes stuff (within reason-- no spoilers!), things that might have happened had the players made different choices, character trivia, general DMing advice, etc.

Please keep in mind that Kit won’t be able to help with many specific questions about the Spooktacular Saga, as that was DMed by friend of the show Chris Sims, and beyond a few things Chris ran by them, Kit was a player in that adventure, and Mr. Hurst is not a particularly clever hippo man.

Once we’ve collected all the questions, Kit will be answering them in a special livestream on the evening of Wednesday 10/21. We’ll post links on our feeds when it’s available.

Patreon Refresh

Hey there, Internet! We soft-launched it earlier this week, but we'd like to take a moment now to officially re-introduce you to our Patreon! It's been long overdue for a refresh, and we're very excited about our bold new shitpost of a direction.

Some of our big changes include:

  • Patron thank-yous! We’ll be adding those back to Date Me, Dammit! episodes in August, but in the meantime, we’ve added a new page to our site where we make sure to thank everyone on our Patreon.

  • We've reconfigured the $10 tier entirely. Content previously available at that tier, i.e. Annie's Jem comics and Kit's D&D homebrew posts, will now be available for everyone who pledges $5 or higher (except the Bragging Rights tier). This includes the complete archive of posts, as well.

  • Speaking of the $10 tier, cross stitches will no longer be available going forward. If you’re still owed one of these, and would like a cross stitch, please reach out to us. Thanks for understanding!

  • New rewards! Consider submitting some smut for us to discuss on-air for Jemjammer's Smutty Book Club, signing up to receive an index card drawing from Annie and Maq, or selecting a song for Maq to croon into a microphone.

  • We're currently working on a few other patreon-exclusive items, like early release episodes of Date Me, Dammit! or I Will Fight you, to our rewards. We'll let you know if and when those become available.

Hey there, Internet! We wanted to update you on a couple things we’re working on and how the coming year is gonna look.

Due to some personal reasons, Kit is stepping back from the editing and production work she’s been doing on I Will Fight You and Date Me Dammit. Don’t worry, she’s not going anywhere! Kit is still co-hosting on all our projects. What this really means is that we’re doing a little load-bearing reshuffling. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Jemjammer: Nothing’s really changing here! Jake Mason is still our spectacular producer, despite the absolute nonsense he’s had to listen to. Coming up, we’ll have the conclusion of the Halloween Spooktacular That Spanned Decades, and we’ll be getting back to our regularly-scheduled Gay Space Adventures with Kit once more at the DM helm. Not to be confused with the in-universe spelljamming helm. You know what, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it.

  • Date Me, Dammit: Dragon Age: Origins was a mistake. Anime was a mistake. The sexy male armor mod was not, in fact, a mistake. But it’s kind of taxed our systems because it turns out even this many years after release, Dragon Age is still a beast to run. Hell, we’re pretty sure it actually gave Kit’s computer the Blight. So instead, we’re going to be returning to more standard date sims and otome games, with Maq now at the producer’s chair! Maq’s getting into the swing of things with a couple episodes she’s working on now, and we’re looking to have this show out on a much more frequent basis. We’re really excited about the games we’ve got on our list for this.

  • I Will Fight You: We’ll be bringing this show out of mothballs, too, with the help of our new producer, Lucas Brown, of The Math of You podcast! He’s a friend of the show, and you heard him most recently on the Cutting Edge episode of IWFY, an episode which he also produced! We’re so excited to work with him and have his talents turned to our own, sinister purposes. Due to this new setup, we’ll be pushing back IWFY’s schedule to every five weeks, starting with our next episode, which we’re expecting to go up within the next couple months. Want a teaser? Here’s one of our upcoming Facts: “Some scenery is meant to be chewed, and some men are born to chew scenery.”

We’re so thankful to have you all with us. You’ve been patient and understanding, and we’re all really looking forward to making more dumb jokes together. Hopefully you’ll enjoy our dumb jokes, too!
